Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and monitor all phases of service delivery and operation of the Mercer Bursar Office. This position is responsible for management of receivables and reconciliation of University accounts, as well as the implementation of University policies and procedures. Stays current with federal, state, and cash management regulations, identifies deficiencies in current procedures, initiating corrective action when required. This position also works closely with the University Bursar and serves as a representative on committees and at some University functions. This position is responsible for the management of seven clerical and administrative employees.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferably in accounting or business, from an accredited college or university and three years of experience which must include general accounting, customer service and supervisory experience are required.  The successful candidate must display the following: (1) Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to work with representatives from public and private entities and handle potentially sensitive situations; (2) Management, supervision, and extensive job related experience in hiring, managing, directing, and motivating staff; (3) Must be analytical and detail oriented; (4) Comprehensive knowledge of financial record keeping, procedures, and practices and the ability to interpret a wide range of written rules and regulations. Thorough knowledge and understanding of student financial operations in higher education environment; (5) Effective written and oral interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of business management principles, methods and procedures; (6) Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to Title IV and cash management. Ability to apply extensive expertise to complex problems, develop sound conclusions, and recommend new or revised policies; (7) Extensive experience in managing administrative operations and systems analysis.
