Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include the installation, testing, maintenance and repair of new and existing cable systems associated with the one card system, alarm systems, the adds, moves, changes, testing and troubleshooting Alarms and One Card system . Position will be responsible for conducting annual inspections of Life Safety Equipment associated with building alarms and making necessary repairs to equipment. Position will also be responsible for ensuring communication between alarm panels and the Mercer Central Alarm Station which monitors all campus life safety and property alarms, CCTV equipment and central monitoring station software for security cameras. Position will assist in training of end users of services and products offered. Position will be cross trained to provide backup assistance for the office and with carding events.

While this position will be based on our Atlanta Campus and will support the Atlanta area facilities including the Douglas and Henry County Regional Academic Centers, travel between all Mercer campus locations will also be required from time to time.  In addition, this position will be on call on a rotating basis with departmental staff to provide 24/7, 365 days a year coverage. 

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience, which must include working with Access Control and Security Systems, basic understanding of networking RS 485 and cable terminations/cabling, Windows server 2010 and 2013, and at least two years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite software.  In addition, candidates must have certification in Blackboard Transact (BTAC) or receive that certification within one year of their start date. 

Experience with Life Safety fire alarm inspections and maintenance repair is desirable.  Knowledge of card reader systems and maintenance procedures as well as knowledge of NFPA Life Safety codes are desirable. In addition, an unrestricted Georgia Low Voltage License is desirable. 

Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the University carrier.
