Responsibilities

Incumbent will be responsible for basic day-to-day duties in the HVAC trade. In addition the incumbent will work closely with the HVAC maintenance contractor this will include developing the understanding and knowledge to work with and service boilers, chilled water systems (both two and four pipe units). Heat pumps, central and window AC units. The incumbent will be expected to develop an understanding and the ability to operate energy management software with the on line monitoring capability of our building systems. From time to time the incumbent will be expected to perform other duties that are assigned by Physical Plant Management including working outside the incumbent's primary HVAC discipline. This position works under indirect supervision and reports to the Building Maintenance Superintendent.

Required Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with three years of general construction/maintenance experience with one year working with HVAC maintenance, repair and/or installation. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

1. Must be able to trouble shoot equipment such as refrigerators, walk in coolers, walk in freezers, chiller units, central cooling/heating units and window units. Must be able to work overtime when needed and participate in the department rotating on-call list.

2. Must have a broad basic knowledge and understanding along with the ability to successfully complete work assignments in other maintenance disciplines including electrical, low voltage control, general carpentry along with basic plumbing.

3. Must have sufficient computer knowledge and skills to allow incumbent to develop the ability to operate and utilize our HVAC system programs in the future.

4. Must be able to read and utilize blueprints, plans and specifications.

5. Must be able to assist Physical Plant Management in the development of estimates for HVAC related maintenance and/or repair projects.

6. Must have a good working knowledge city, county and state building codes.

7. Must have the physical abilities to perform work duties, with or without reasonable accommodations, as assigned.
