Responsibilities

The Tift College of Education at Mercer University invites applicants for a Faculty of Early Childhood/Middle Grades Education (Mathematics Emphasis), a nine-month, tenure track position to begin in August 2019.  The home site for this position will be Mercer University‚Äôs Regional Academic Center in Douglasville, GA.  Primary responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate classes; advising and encouraging students to develop the professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions of a Transforming Educator; engaging in scholarly research; guiding student research; potentially serving on doctoral committees; participating in collaborative partnerships with schools; contributing to a dynamic and growing learning community through effective collaboration with students, faculty, and staff; and participating on committees as assigned.

Qualifications

An earned doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood/Middle Grades Mathematics from an accredited university/college (completed by the start of the position) and at least three years of successful elementary or middle grades teaching experience including mathematics are required.  ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor until all Ph.D. requirements have been met. Must have evidence of successful teaching and effective communication, interpersonal, and technology skills.  Experience working with teachers and the ability to conduct research and publish results of scholarly activities are also required.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following: excellent written and oral communication skills; an understanding of technology for synchronous and asynchronous online instruction; strong evidence for potential of scholarly productivity; evidence of professional service to the field; and experiences with diverse school populations.

Pay Rate

Commensurate with experience
