Responsibilities

The Mercer University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Faculty member to provide full time clinical practice at Mercer Medicine. Rank to be determined based on the credentials of the candidate(s) selected.  The applicant should be licensed as a Clinical Psychologist and eligible for license in Georgia providing clinical assessments, individual psychotherapy, group therapy and psychological testing services.  Department offers participation in Grand Rounds, committee work and community service opportunities.  Clinical practice and pre-clinical training through Mercer Medicine. The mission of the school is to train physicians and other healthcare professionals in primary care and service to rural and underserved populations in Georgia.

Mercer University School of Medicine is committed to providing training utilizing the Biopsychosocial model for both physicians and other healthcare professionals.

This position is expected to maintain a financially viable clinical practice at Mercer Medicine.  This position will also be responsible for supervising students and residents in clinical training and provide clinical oversight for the Behavioral Health Service at Mercer Medicine.   There will be opportunity to teach behavioral science in the medical school as needed.  Membership in Health Psychology organizations and groups is also desirable, such as the Health Psychology division of APA. Board certification as a Health Psychologist by ABPP is a plus.

This is a 12 month position and will report to the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner of Mercer Medicine and to the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

The department faculty is small enough to have a positive, supportive and collegial atmosphere. The department faculty consists of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists; clinical social workers, and marriage and family therapists. The department also interfaces and collaborates with other basic science and clinical departments, including Family Medicine, OB/GYN, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Community & Public Health Medicine.  

Qualifications

A successful candidate will be a graduate of an APA approved internship, doctoral program, be currently licensed, and highly value ABPP designation in clinical psychology.  Current APA membership and post-doctoral experience in a health-related area would be desirable.  The candidate must be eligible to receive an appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank.  The candidate must also demonstrate strong experience in working in interdisciplinary healthcare education and clinical settings.
